This policy covers MewScan, a Pokémon card recognition and collection app, and the MewScan website at mewscan.app. MewScan does not require you to create an account. The app is built for iOS and Android; public store listings are not available yet.
Information handled on your device
Card images. The camera feed and a photo you select for recognition are processed on-device. MewScan does not upload those images to identify cards. You can choose to share a diagnostic report or an exported collection using your device’s sharing options; that sharing is a separate action you control.
Collection and preferences. Saved cards, quantities, finishes, condition notes, scan records, display preferences, and collection history are kept in the app’s local database and settings on your device. MewScan does not provide cloud account sync. The collection remains on that device unless you delete it, remove the app, or choose to export/share data.
Information sent when the app connects
The app connects to MewScan’s catalog, price service, and image CDN to return catalog details, card artwork, market estimates, exchange rates, and portfolio history. Depending on the screen you use, a request can include:
- the language selected for catalog search, the search text, and set or filter choices;
- card or printing identifiers and finish details needed to retrieve a card’s price or portfolio price history; and
- the selected display currency when a price estimate is requested.
These services return catalog and market information. Current price estimates and history use available TCGplayer market data distributed through TCGCSV; coverage depends on the card and finish. The production API is configured not to store your private holdings; your collection database stays on the phone. The API, image host, and their hosting providers necessarily receive network request information such as an IP address, request path, and standard technical headers so they can route, protect, and serve requests. The app sends requests to MewScan’s API rather than uploading a card photo to identify a card.
App diagnostics and purchases
The app may send limited, pseudonymous launch reliability diagnostics to help maintain startup reliability. These can include app and SDK versions, device platform, launch outcome, timing, and a limited failure category. They do not include card photos or your saved collection contents.
RevenueCat processes in-app purchase and subscription information used to determine premium access. Purchases are completed through the relevant app store. MewScan does not receive your payment card number. RevenueCat’s privacy information is available at revenuecat.com/privacy. Apple and Google process purchases under their own terms and privacy notices.
Website requests, cookies, and analytics
This website is served through Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes request metadata such as an IP address, requested page, browser information, and referrer information to deliver and protect the site. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for its processing details.
The site does not currently set analytics or advertising cookies, use tracking pixels, embed third-party analytics, or collect information through a web form. It uses a small first-party script only to open and close the mobile navigation. Cloudflare may use a security cookie if needed for protection. If you click an email link, your email app opens and handles the message; the site does not receive the email contents.
How information is used
Information is used to recognize and look up cards, provide catalog and market data, store your library on your device, confirm purchase entitlements, maintain app reliability, respond to support requests, and protect the services from misuse. MewScan does not sell your collection data or use card photos for advertising.
Local data and support email
Your collection data remains in the local app database until you remove it from the app or delete the app and its device data. Support emails may be kept as needed to respond and maintain support records.
Your choices and requests
You can deny or revoke camera and photo-library access in your device settings. You can use manual catalog search without granting camera access. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information handled by MewScan by emailing the address below. Please describe the request and the app or service involved; do not email passwords or payment-card details.
Children
MewScan does not require a child or adult to create an account. The app may still process the technical information and purchase information described above. A parent or guardian with a privacy concern can contact us at the email below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page when the app, its providers, or its data practices change. The date at the top shows when the current version was last revised. Material changes should be reviewed before using a future version of the app.
